Retelling Three Little Pigs

Miss M decided she was going to put on a play for us.  She made and gathered all of her props herself to tell us the story of the Three Little Pigs.  (We only had two pigs, so she used a cat as her third pig and a koala bear as her wolf.)

I love to see her imagination at work!

Giant Origami Boat

The Boyscout has been making origami folded boats lately, much to his brother's delight.  He made a whole fleet the other day and he and The Bug spent a long time floating them in the bathtub.  I had a large posterboard left over from another project, and The Boyscout got the idea to make a giant version.

It took a bit of finessing since the paper was so stiff, but he persevered and it turned out great!

Summer Fun: Legos

While we try to spend time outside every day, we already have a heat index over 100 degrees.  That means afternoons spent inside.  Legos are one of those toys that all three of my kids really enjoy, despite their age differences.  Sometimes that means The Boyscout helps The Bug build a fire truck.

Other times, I give them a challenge.  This week I asked the kids to build me houses.  Miss M's version was this castle.

Painted Fish

The little two LOVE painting.  Last week for the feast day of St. Anthony of Padua I gave them fish cut out of paper plates to decorate and read to them the miracle of the fishes.  Of course, the first thing they asked for was paint.  I gave them q-tips in their paint colors, and showed them how to paint scales on their fish using pointillism.

A simple craft, but one they both enjoyed!

A Month in Review

It has been a full month since I lasted posted on the blog.  All I can say is it was a hectic month.  It started with my dear husband spending a few days in the hospital following emergency surgery (he is fine now), and ended with a ten-day visit from my folks.

The Bug with my mother.

Along the way we celebrated a certain little boy's third birthday,

saw The Boyscout act as Philostrate in his school's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream,

and watched Miss M's ballet recital.

The kids finished up the school year, and we are all looking forward to a more relaxed summer.
