First Grade Hands-On Fun!

I just wanted to share a few of the activities Miss M has been working on lately.  Even though she is a child who LOVES worksheets, I still try to include some hands-on activities in her day.

We have been playing a lot of math games lately.  This is a place value version of bingo.

We have also been doing a lot of nature study.  Bird feathers, sea shells, rocks, a fully preserved dragonfly (rescued from the hood of my car by The Boyscout), and pinecones have been on our inspection list lately.

When studying ancient history, we discussed how one of the first boats called a coracle was made by stretching skins over a round wooden frame.  Miss M made her own version using pipecleaners and a plastic baggie.

Just a few of the fun things we are doing in first grade this year!
