Texas Alphabet

We did the first of our lessons about Texas this week.  We read the book Texas Alphabetby Laurie Parker.  Then Miss M made her own alphabet book.

She folded a piece of construction paper long-ways and then cut 5 flaps on one side, making a flip book.  Each flap was labeled with one letter in "Texas".

Underneath each she brainstormed and drew a Texas item.  She decided on a tornado, bald Eagle (more than 1,000 of them migrate here each winter), phloX (x's are hard to find), the Alamo, and sunshine.

She enjoyed this project, and learned a little bit about our state along the way.  I expect we will be working on one Texas-related project each month throughout the year.
