Making Clouds

A recent Texas storm (hail on a 103 degree day) led J and I into a discussion of weather. He already understands the water cycle and how clouds are formed, but it was a good time to review. We also discussed why clouds appear black or white, and reviewed the different types of clouds. J asked what a cloud felt like, so we did a little experiment to find out. (From our Hands-on Science book; the hot water evaporates water particles which meets the cold ice-cubes and makes a cloud in the jar.)
