Nature Walk - Texture

I plan to do several nature walks with the kids this summer, focusing on our different senses. Today was our touch/texture walk. I took the kids to the park near us, and gave them both tape bracelets made from masking tape sticky-side out. They then gathered flowers, leaves, sticks, grass, or whatever else caught their fancy. They stuck them on the tape and made nature bracelets.

When they got bored with this, we gathered a bunch of different textured and shaped leaves and sticks and brought them home. Later, after dinner, we did texture rubbings with the objects we gathered and talked about how they felt - smooth, bumpy, rough, etc. The kids really enjoyed this, especially M! (J had more fun riding his bike than doing the texture part of the walk.)
