Mother's Day Cards

The kiddos wanted to make Mother's Day cards for their grandmothers and godmothers. We decided to combine that with with a fun art project I have seen in several books and wanted to try - shaving cream art. The steps are very simple. First, you fill a cookie tray with shaving cream and have the kids spread it around.

Then you add a few drops of their favorite food color and mix them in.

You carefully lay a piece of cardstock on top, and then pick it up and wipe off the excess shaving cream. We used a window scraper we found at the dollar store, and it worked perfectly. The end results look like this (that is "J"s on the right and "M"s on the left.)

When this was done, we cut out their favorite parts and glued them to the front of blank cards, and stamped a message inside. Simple but fun and original to each child. Just be sure your little ones don't try to eat the shaving cream and remember food coloring stains (thus Daddy's old shirt over our clothes).
